Section IV: 1922-1935 Photographs from The Golden Reign After returning from India in 1929, Lawrence was posted to RAF Cattewater near Plymouth. He had met Sydney Smith, his new commanding officer, at the Cairo Conference in 1921. As Sydney Smith's clerk, Lawrence helped to organise the Schneider Trophy air race in 1929. Afterwards, Lawrence and Smith were given a motor-launch, which they called the Biscuit.
